Failed Your Theory Test? What to Do Next
Failing is common and it is not a verdict on your driving. You can book again, but you must wait at least three working days before retaking.
Work out what went wrong
- Your result letter shows how you did on each topic, so start with the lowest.
- If you failed hazard perception, practise scanning rather than reading more.
- If you missed by one or two, review flagged questions and wording traps.
Fix it in a week
- Redo every question you got wrong until you answer them correctly twice.
- Take three timed mocks and aim for 45 or more.
- Do hazard clips daily.
Rebook only when your practice scores are consistent. A rushed retake costs another £23.
Rules and fees change. Check GOV.UK for the latest information.
